To build early momentum around Microsoft’s limited-edition Windows-themed Crocs, our team created a social teaser that leaned into one of the most recognizable pieces of visual culture associated with the brand: the Windows XP “Bliss” landscape. Instead of revealing the product outright, we designed a playful, surreal composition that merged the Croc silhouette into a reimagined field of green hills and blue sky—instantly familiar, yet intriguingly minimal.
The collaboration itself was inherently nostalgic and delightfully unexpected. But to make the announcement feel like a true “drop,” we needed to introduce it with restraint: something that sparked curiosity, rewarded the in-the-know audience, and invited everyone else to speculate. The brief was simple—create an image that hinted at what was coming without giving the product away.
Our idea centered on treating the Croc as if it were part of the landscape. By placing the shoe within a stylized XP-inspired environment—lush grass, serene hills, and oversized sky—we blurred the line between product and backdrop. The Croc becomes an extension of the scene, much like the wallpaper itself became an extension of early Windows identity.
